Thank you for visiting my website! Here is a little bit about me. First and foremost, I am a wife and mother. I have been married for 28 years to the man I met on the first day of college back in 1988 at UC Davis. My undergraduate degree was in biology, and my first job after graduating college was as a customer service representative at a trucking company! I began my life-long dream of being a mother in 1995, and was a stay-at-home mom to my 3 boys for a number of years before going back to graduate school and becoming a therapist in 2010. I am a former Navy wife, and endured 4 deployments home with my litttle boys while my husband served overseas on and off for 9 years. My 3 boys are now young adults, at ages 20, 22, and 24. As a result of raising boys, It is difficult to surprise or offend me (and I tend to have a potty mouth).
We lived in Carlsbad for 15 years before moving to the hills of Escondido in 2015 where we are now enjoying more space, more avocados, and more critters! I am an animal lover, and have 2 dogs, 3 goats, 1 pot-bellied pig, and 4 chickens!
I am a certified EMDR therapist, and use EMDR everyday in my practice. I am passionate about this therapy modality as I have seen some really great results from it! I also have advanced training using somatic interventions, and incorporate it extensively into my EMDR work. In addition, I have completed a year-long holistic nutrition program through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In general, I do not do couple's therapy, but enjoy working with individuals and will sometimes work with teenagers.
My clients usually say I am laid-back, real, and easy to connect with. Because my background is more in Biology than Psychology, I don't use a lot of psychobabble and will not over-analyze you! I am not a fan of medication unless absolutely necessary, and will rarely suggest traditional Western medical interventions. I like a more holistic, natural approach to healing. I am a full, clinical member of both the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the EMDR International Association.
